About Us

The Roper-Hall Eye Foundation, a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, was established in 2018 to replace the Birmingham Eye Foundation that had existed since 1968.

The Foundation takes its name from the eminent Ophthalmologist, Michael Roper-Hall (25th August 1923 - 3rd May 2024) who was Consultant at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Hospital 1957-1988 and a world leader, pioneer and innovator in microsurgery of the eye.

Trustees of the Foundation are from medical and non-medical backgrounds and include Consultant Ophthalmologists working in Birmingham.
